Maimonides Welcomes New Pediatrics Chair Dr. Jeffrey Avner



Brooklyn, NY (March 23, 2017) – Kenneth D. Gibbs, Maimonides President & CEO, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jeffrey Avner as Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Maimonides Children’s Hospital.

“Dr. Avner comes to us highly recommended by his peers,” said Mr. Gibbs. “I am looking forward to working with him and the entire pediatrics department as we continue to grow the Children's Hospital and advance pediatric care for Brooklyn.”

Dr. Avner earned his MD at Columbia University and completed residency and fellowship training at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He is widely published and nationally known for his accomplishments in his field. He served as Associate Director of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Jacobi Hospital, and as Director of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Avner formerly held two academic positions at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine—Fellowship Director for Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Co-Director of Medical Student Education in Pediatrics, and he is currently Professor of Clinical Pediatrics.
