Investors Bank and the Investors Foundation recently presented a $25,000 grant to the Pediatric Trauma Center at Maimonides Children’s Hospital.
During the ceremonies Maimonides Medical Center’s CEO Kenneth Gibbs received the grant from Investors’ President Domenick Cama, Retail Market Executive Ana Oliveira, and the bank’s team in Brooklyn.
The hospital was also represented by Dr. Jeffrey Avner, Maimonides’ Chair of Pediatric Medicine, Dr. Lynn Model, a pediatric surgeon and trauma specialist, and Frank A. Naccarato, a member of the medical center’s Board of Trustees.
In presenting the grant, Mr. Cama said, “Everyone at our bank is honored to support the Pediatric Trauma Center. We are aware of all that you do to serve the community by providing the best emergency medical care to families and their children. Speaking on behalf of the bank, we want to thank you for your exceptional efforts.”
Maimonides operates Brooklyn’s only Pediatric Trauma Center, which provides emergency care to infants, children and adolescents 24/7. The trauma center is staffed by pediatric emergency medicine physicians, nurses and specialists.
Mr. Gibbs said, “Frank Naccarato, one of our trustees, spearheaded the funding for the pediatric trauma center. He also helped us build a close alliance with Investors Bank. We are grateful to Frank for his dedication to our hospital; to Domenick and the bank for this financial assistance; and especially to Investors’ employees who contribute their time as volunteers.”
The medical team at the trauma center uses the most advanced equipment and procedures to treat life-threatening injuries that may result from serious falls, vehicle collisions and other accidents.
Dr. Avner said, “We emphasize children’s care at our hospital. We have dedicated surgeons, nurses, and medical teams who are here to serve the unique needs of kids. Our specialists, backed by an extensive set of facilities and pediatric resources, know how to provide the trauma care that makes us a vital children’s hospital.”
As the meeting ended, Dr. Model said, “Trauma is the number one cause of death for children from one to 18 years of age. Our center is here to assist kids and their families throughout Brooklyn by delivering the most comprehensive trauma support—especially during the critical time following a severe accident.”
