“The news keeps getting better and better for the people of Brooklyn,” said Mr. Gibbs. “With the appointment of Dr. Afshin Razi we continue to keep our promise to bring the highest level of excellence and the most advanced technology to our patients.”

“Yes, we’re delighted to add Dr. Razi’s considerable expertise to the team in our Comprehensive Spine Center,” agreed Dr. Choueka. “And the future expertise of our Residents and Fellows is now guaranteed under his superb educational guidance.”

In his new roles, Dr. Razi will be responsible for ensuring outstanding quality, academic excellence, and optimal operational performance in the department.

Dr. Razi will be working with Spine Center experts Drs. John Houten, Director of Spinal Neurosurgery & Neurotrauma, and Ahmed Saleh, Orthopedic Spine Surgeon.

The Spine Center at Maimonides provides patients with the opportunity to receive the highest level of medical and surgical expertise in a state-of-the-art 4,400 square-foot setting. Specialists at the Maimonides Spine Center always consider both surgical and nonsurgical options to determine the least invasive and most appropriate treatment for your needs.

Prior to taking on his expanded roles at Maimonides, Dr. Razi was Associate Director of the Maimonides Orthopedics Residency Program. He is actively involved in clinical and resident-educational research, about which he lectures and publishes frequently.

Dr. Razi previously served as faculty and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Spine Surgery Section, at NYU Langone Medical Center—formerly known as the Hospital for Joint Diseases—and was a partner in the Madison Avenue Orthopaedic Associates PC.
