Maimonides Celebrates National Heart Month at Annual Flag-Raising Ceremony

The Maimonides Heart & Vascular Institute recently recognized National Heart Month with a special celebration and flag-raising ceremony.
The program included welcoming remarks from Kenneth D. Gibbs, President & CEO; an overview of services and achievements from Dr. Jacob Shani, Chair of Cardiology; Dr. Greg Ribakove, Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery; and Dr. Robert Rhee, Chief of Vascular Surgery. Declan Doyle, Senior VP of Operations & Clinical Programs, gave closing remarks about excellence in cardiovascular care at Maimonides.
Following the program, Maimonides staffers gathered for a festive group photo to show off their red attire in support of heart health. The Heart Month flag was raised outside the hospital’s main entrance on Tenth Avenue.
The Maimonides Heart & Vascular Institute has a long-standing reputation for outstanding patient outcomes based on statewide and national accolades. According to the latest New York State Department of Health report, Maimonides heart valve surgeons have significantly low mortality rates — lower, in fact, than any hospital in Manhattan. This is the second year in a row the Maimonides cardiac surgery team was commended for excellent results.
