Welcome To Maimonides Orthopedic Residency Program
Welcome to the Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program at Maimonides Medical Center. The faculty members of the Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program are committed to the education of residents with the goal of preparing them to be well-qualified, independent specialists in orthopedics. Our role as educators is to instill residents with those traits which are essential to success, including honesty, integrity, objectivity, self-motivation, curiosity and a sense of responsibility. To this end, we strive to graduate residents who not only are expert surgeons, but who are capable of becoming leaders in the field. This is evidenced by the large percentage of our residents who pursue academic careers.
Excellence in patient care is of utmost importance and inseparable from the resident educational experience. The wide variety of cases provided by the large and diverse population we serve allows for an extensive experience in all of the orthopedic specialties. The faculty members, all experts in their field and specialty trained, offer an experience with the appropriate balance of clinical and academic education. They foster an educational environment that allows for both professional and personal growth.
Innovation, research and technology are woven into the fabric of the training program. The department has full time research personnel, a laboratory with basic science and mechanical testing capabilities, an arthroscopy lab, cadaver lab and is fully integrated with the Maimonides Center for Clinical Simulation, which is dedicated to resident and faculty education.
The residency program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) offering a quality education with ample time for patient, clinical and research activities. The program accepts 3 residents per year through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP)
We encourage you to learn more about our training program and to ask questions and discuss the program with our faculty members, current residents or recent graduates.
