How to Apply

Internship Program Admissions:
Thank you for your interest in the Clinical Psychology Internship Program. 

Please note we only consider students from APA accredited programs in Clinical and Counseling Psychology.

Preference is given to the candidates who have:

  • Clinical and psychological testing experience with both children and adults.
  • Experience working with varied treatment approaches (i.e. psychodynamic, CBT, systemic).
  • Experience with varied assessment methods/materials - including projective and objective testing.
  • An expressed interest in working with a multicultural population in the public sector.
  • The dissertation proposal approved by the internship start date.
  • At least 3 years of graduate/clinical experience.
  • A minimum of 400 intervention hours by the start of the internship.
  • A minimum of 150 assessment hours by the start of the internship.

Applications should include the online AAPI, a resume, and three letters of recommendation.

Deadline: 
The deadline for submitting applications is November 15th. The internship begins July 1st. 

Benefits: 
The stipend for the year is $25,000 and fringe benefits include 4 weeks of vacation, holidays, sick leave, conference days and lunch vouchers. Both medical and dental insurance are available at a minimal cost of a few dollars a month. For more specific information regarding benefits, please refer to the Benefits area of this web site.

Directions:

Subway: “D” train to Fort Hamilton Parkway and 45th Street. Walk up Fort Hamilton Parkway to 48th St. Turn right for 1-½ blocks. The CMHC is between 9th and 10th Avenues.

Car from Brooklyn Battery Tunnel: After tunnel keep to the left and proceed up the hill on the “Gowanus” portion of the BQE. Then move to the right and after about 1 ½ miles, exit on the right at 39th St. At the stop light at the bottom of the ramp make a left turn. Continue on until 48th St. Make a left turn. The CMHC is located on 48th St. between 9th and 10th avenues. There is a parking garage at 48th St. and 10th Ave.

Car from Brooklyn Bridge and BQE: Continue onto Gowanus Parkway keeping to the right. Continue as above.

Car from Long Island on the Belt Parkway (going West): Exit at 14th Avenue (the next exit after Bay Parkway exit). Continue down 14th Avenue to 49th Street. Turn left. Continue past 11th Avenue. Take any parking spot in the vicinity. The CMHC is on 48th Street between 9th and 10th Avenues.

There is a parking garage at 48th St. and 10th Ave.
