In a patient setting where diagnostic questions are serious and frequently life threatening, the intern will learn to appreciate the importance of psychodiagnostic testing. Brief patient stays require rapid diagnostic and dynamic formulations, which address specific problems, such as suicide potential, presence of psychosis, etc. Because of the wide range of issues to be evaluated, the intern's testing skills and clinical acumen will undergo a marked expansion. In conjunction with the testing, the intern will learn how to interpret and report the findings to the Medical Center's professional staff. Testing is an integral part of a psychologist's training and the Internship's intention is to provide in-depth experience in psychodiagnostic assessment and evaluation of a wide range of patients.
