Research

Fellows are encouraged to partake in clinical research projects during their time at Maimonides.  There are diverse research opportunities, including clinical trials, clinical chart reviews, and literature reviews.  We have a funded basic science laboratory, headed by Theresa Jacob, PhD.  Our vascular department is also an active participant of the SVS Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI) and ACS National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) which allows for access their large databases for research projects.  Fellows are encouraged to submit to, and attend, local and national meetings. Some of the ongoing clinical projects are listed below. 

  • Evaluation of the GORE® Excluder® Iliac Branch Endoprosthesis for the Treatment of Common Iliac Artery Aneurysms or Aorto-Iliac Aneurysms.
  • Evaluation of MST-188 in Acute Lower Limb Ischemia: A Phase 2 Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Multi-Center Clinical Trial Evaluating the Safety and Efficacy of MST-188 in subjects with Acute Lower Limb Ischemia receiving Catheter Directed Recombinant Tissue Plasminogen Activator.
  • Sapphire WW Stenting and Angioplasty with Protection in Patients at High Risk for Endarterectomy.
  • Assessment of Critical Limb Revascularization of Angiosome and Non-Angiosome Based Targets Using Intraoperative Indocyanine Green
