Advancing Heart and Vascular Medicine Through Expertise and Technology
We are committed to using the latest technology available to provide the best care possible to our patients and to continue to find new ways to treat coronary disease. The Maimonides Heart & Vascular Center has been a leader in research and innovation, pioneering numerous “firsts” including the first successful human heart transplant in North America, the development and implementation of one of the country's first pacemakers, and the introduction of the intraaortic balloon pump (still the most commonly used assist device). Our use of technology has been nationally recognized, including storing images digitally and entering patient orders electronically. We also lead in the early adoption of beneficial new technologies including the use of laser and robotic systems for minimally invasive procedures, advanced imaging technology, and electronic data transfers and storage systems.
