Healthy Cooking Tips 



  • August is Kids Eat Right Month! Along with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, we'll celebrate Kids Eat Right month by sharing healthy eating tips for kids.

  • Eating healthy and staying active helps reduce risk of obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. It helps kids build strong muscles and bones, sleep better and stay focused in school.


  • Cook more meals at home, and involve your kids in cooking! Kids can help measure ingredients, wash fruits and vegetables, stir ingredients or mash foods like potatoes.

  • Make fruits and vegetables fun for kids to eat. Try colorful fruits and vegetables, or make fresh fruit juices or smoothies at home.

  • Fill half your plate with fruits and vegetables during every meal. Make sure you're eating from all food groups every day.
