Dr. Elie Hamaoui is a physician in the Division of Endocrinology Metabolism, as well as the Division of Gastroenterology, at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Hamaoui joined the Maimonides team from the VA Medical Center in Brooklyn, where he remains a consultant. Previously, he was Consultant and Chief in the Division of Clinical Nutrition at St. John's Episcopal Hospital in New York. Dr. Hamaoui completed his residency at the Brooklyn VA Medical Center and his fellowship at the Institute of Human Nutrition, Columbia University. Dr. Hamaoui has held several academic appointments, presently the Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the State University of New York, and Visiting Professor of Nutrition at the Regional Center for Clinical Nutrition Education, The New York Academy of Medicine. He is also the Expert Consultant on the New York State Board of Professional Medical Conduct. He has numerous society memberships, including the American College of Nutrition, the American Society for Parental and Enteral Nutrition, the Association of Orthodox Jewish Scientists, The New York Academy of Medicine, New York Academy of Sciences, and the New York State Society of Internal Medicine. Dr. Hamaoui has been honored with many awards throughout his career, such as the AMA Physician Recognition Award, and the Alpha Epsilon Delta Premedical Honor Society. He performs extensive research in clinical nutrition and metabolic support, and has received various research grants. He continually publishes and lectures in his specialty.
