Ear, Nose & Throat/otolaryngology (ENT)
We provide care for patients with diseases of the ears, nose, throat, and head and neck region. Our practice spans from newborns to the elderly, and covers a wide variety of conditions.
Children's ENT Services
Healing the Children: Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery
Common problems for children include ear and throat infections, hearing loss and speech problems which require the expertise of an otolaryngologist in many cases. We have vast experience, with specialists and sub-specialists who are dedicated to the care of our young patients.
Hearing is one of our most important senses. We provide medical evaluation of the ears in all age groups, and have the facilities for testing hearing. We also offer rehabilitative services including facilities for hearing aid prescription. Our newest physician, Dr. Michal Preis underwent special fellowship training in surgery of the ear. Surgical cases range from surgery for chronic ear infection to implantable ear devices, removal of tumors, and reconstruction of the eardrum and middle ear. Vertigo and dizziness may be a consequence of ear disease, and we evaluate and treat patients with these problems as well.
Nasal & Sinus Disease
Nasal and sinus disease is very common, and constitutes an important portion of the practice. Endoscopic and minimally invasive surgery occupies an ever-increasing proportion of the surgical cases which we undertake in this area. Having mastered the basic techniques, we have incorporated computer-guided sinus
surgery and skull base surgery into our practice. Of course, many of the patients do not require surgery at all, and we care for them and improve their conditions with medical treatments.
Head & Neck Cancers
Head and Neck Oncology includes treatment of tumors of the head and neck region. This would include diseases involving the oral cavity, throat, sinuses, and salivary glands. This area of practice requires close collaboration between physicians in Surgery, Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology. Through the Maimonides Cancer Center we provide this close teamwork, with our ENT specialists providing the surgical portion of the treatment plan. There is close collaboration as well with the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery to provide optimal reconstruction following treatment.
Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery is an important component of Head and Neck Surgery and we are very busy in this area. Thanks to a close relationship with Maimonides endocrinologists we have accumulated a large volume of patients. Collaboration and group discussion are key to optimizing patient care and ensuring the best outcomes.
