Summer Youth Programs

Maimonides Medical Center is the largest site for the DYCD (Department of Youth and Community Development) Summer Youth Employment Program and 1199SEIU Child Care Corporation Youth Mentoring Program among all other healthcare facilities. Almost 400 youth participate in the Maimonides summer program every year. The diversity of our youth reflects the multi-cultural diversity of our community.

We are always eager to provide participants with the opportunity to gain meaningful work experience. Participants assist in all aspects of the Medical Center operations, from business and medical offices to patient care areas and support services.

In addition to working at the Medical Center, participants also attend workshops that teach them about workplace readiness, résumé building and budget planning. Participants develop good work ethics and skills that help them succeed in the workplace. Summer youth participants contribute more than 40,000 hours of service to the Medical Center each summer.
