Our Hematologic Diagnostic Services
At the Maimonides Cancer Center, our hematologic oncology team has both the expertise and the advanced technology necessary to ensure the most accurate diagnosis. We utilize a variety of sophisticated diagnostic tests to evaluate and stage hematologic cancers, including:
- Blood tests to evaluate a variety of factors, including the number of blood cells in your blood and how well your liver and kidneys are working.
- Lymph node biopsy during which a lymph node or a piece of a lymph node is removed for examination under a microscope.
- Bone marrow biopsy during which a piece of soft tissue from inside the bone is removed for examination.
- Bone marrow aspiration during which a small amount of this tissue in liquid form is removed for examination.
Our highly qualified imaging specialists use the latest state-of-the-art imaging equipment to diagnose and determine the extent of the cancer, including:
- CT Scans
- PET Scans
- MRI Scans
- Gallium Scan
