Our Approach

The Maimonides Cancer Center delivers the most advanced services for the diagnosis, treatment and management of gastrointestinal cancers.

Our expert team includes highly skilled surgeons, medical oncologists, gastroenterologists, interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, nurse practitioners and dedicated support staff. This team comes together for weekly Tumor Board meetings, to discuss individual cases and determine the right course of treatment for each patient, including access to clinical trials that may uncover new therapies for the disease.

At the Maimonides Cancer Center, you are not receiving care from just one doctor, but from an entire team dedicated to providing the best care for you.

Diagnosing Gastrointestinal Cancers

Maimonides combines physician expertise with state-of-the-art imaging tools to diagnose GI cancers.

These include advanced MRIs for cancer staging, EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound), and PET/CT scan (Positron Emission Tomography /Computerized Tomography Scan).

Treating Gastrointestinal Cancers

In an increasingly complex field of medicine, Maimonides’ expert team is familiar with the newest innovative techniques to treat the full range of GI cancers, including Gastric, Liver, Colorectal, Anal, Pancreatic, Gallbladder/Bile Duct, and tumors of the GI tract.

Should surgery be the best treatment, our team will use minimally invasive techniques that allow for less postoperative pain and faster recovery time. Other non-surgical treatment procedures, such as radiation therapy and chemotherapy, or a combination of these treatments, can also be part of a patient’s treatment plan.
