Preparing For Your Visit to the Cancer Center

We have physicians and/or staff who speak Arabic, Cantonese, Creole, English, French, German, Hebrew, Indonesian, Italian, Korean, Spanish, Shanghainese, Tagala, Toisan, Yiddish, and Fu Zhou. If you would like to request a spoken language or sign language interpreter, please tell your nurse or ask to speak to a patient care representative.
Please bring the following documents and information to your first appointment
For a comprehensive first visit, we recommend that you bring slides and/or doctor’s reports from previous exams, surgeries or procedures. You may need to call the hospital, doctor’s office and/or testing facility to ask for test or surgery results, including the following:
- Pathology slides from previous biopsies or procedures
- X-rays, CT scans, PET scans or MRIs
- Medical summaries from your doctors
- List of medications
In addition, please bring the following with you:
- Insurance card
- Photo ID card
It is also helpful to arrange for a family member or friend to accompany you on your first appointment, to help you listen and take notes.
