A breast cancer diagnosis can be life-changing. That’s why patients entrust their care to the Maimonides Breast Center, located in Sunset Park, which is recognized for excellence by the American College of Radiology, Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons, and National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancer.
A Nationally Recognized Medical Team
Maimonides Medical Center is recognized as one of the best breast cancer hospitals in the nation. Our multidisciplinary teams of physicians, clinicians, and breast cancer surgeons collaborate to devise the most appropriate individualized treatment plans for our patients.
The Latest Diagnostic and Treatment Technologies
Maimonides breast imaging center was awarded Full Accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), administered by the American College of Surgeons, placing it among an elite 5% of programs in the nation. We’re dedicated to remaining one of the top providers of diagnostic breast imaging, which is a critical part of early breast cancer detection strategies.
In addition, our breast cancer center is the first and only Brooklyn-based program of its kind to be designated an American College of Radiology Center of Excellence in multiple areas of breast cancer screening: mammography, breast ultrasound, MRI of the breast, stereotactic biopsy, ultrasound biopsy, and MRI biopsy.
Caring for the Whole Person, Not Just the Disease
The Maimonides Breast Cancer Program offers comprehensive screening, diagnostic, medical, and surgical breast services, as well as nutrition and genetics counseling, and provides a full array of psycho-social support for patients and families. Our breast cancer doctors are deeply committed to offering our patients every significant advantage in their battle against breast disease by providing them with the highest level of quality breast care.
We are proud to have earned the dedication and acclaim of our patients. Unlike many subspecialties where physicians refer patients, breast cancer patients often seek out a referral from a friend or family member who has had breast cancer. In 2006, just after the Maimonides Breast Cancer Program began, our breast cancer oncologists treated 40 women with breast cancer. Today, we treat close to 500 women a year—many of them referred to us from grateful former patients.
