At Maimonides, educating residents, fellows and other doctors is central to our mission. That is why we have assembled an extraordinary team of physicians to fulfill that mission, each of whom are not only leaders of our graduate medical education program, but also renowned leaders in their respective fields.

Javier Beltran, MD
Chair, Department of Radiology
Professor of Radiology, NYU School of Medicine

Dr. Beltran is a graduate of the University of Barcelona School of Medicine in Spain. He completed his diagnostic radiology residency at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Prior to joining Maimonides, Dr. Beltran was the chairman of the Department of Radiology at the Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopedic Institute.
Patrick I. Borgen, MD
Chair, Department of Surgery
Director, Maimonides Breast Cancer Center

A graduate of Louisiana State University Medical School, Dr. Borgen received his residency training in surgery at Ochsner Medical Institution. He completed his fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Jack Choueka, MD
Chair, Department of Orthopedics

Dr. Choueka received his MD from SUNY Downstate and completed his residency at the Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York. Dr. Choueka went on to complete a fellowship at the University of Chicago. He is board certified in Orthopedic Surgery and has a sub-specialty in Surgery of the Hand. In 2006, Dr. Choueka was appointed Chair of Orthopedics.

Andrew Kolodny, MD
Chair, Department of Psychiatry

Dr. Kolodny completed his residency in psychiatry at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and his fellowship at Columbia University. He has an interest in public health and community psychiatry. He was previously the Medical Director for Special Projects in the Office of the Executive Deputy Commissioner for the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene.
Edgar Lichstein, MD
Chair, Department of Medicine
Professor of Medicine, SUNY-Brooklyn

A graduate of the SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn, Dr. Lichstein completed his residency in internal medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital and New York University Medical Center. He completed a two-year National Heart Institute Fellowship at New York University.

Howard L. Minkoff, MD, FACOG
Chair, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology
Distinguished Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology, SUNY-Brooklyn

Dr. Minkoff received his B.A. from SUNY-Binghamton, his Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University and his OB/GYN training at SUNY/HSCB. Prior to his arrival, he was distinguished professor of OB/GYN and director of Maternal Fetal Medicine at SUNY/HSCB.

Steven Konstadt, MD, MBA, FACC
Chair, Department of Anesthesiology

Dr. Steven Konstadt obtained a B.S. from Columbia University and his M.D. from Yale University. Dr. Konstadt completed his residency in Anesthesia at Massachusetts General Hospital. He also became the Chief Cardiothoracic Anesthesia Fellow at Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Konstadt’s clinical expertise is Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology.

Chisai Tse, DO, MPH
Program Director, Traditional Rotating Internship
Director of Osteopathic Medical Education

Tse, Chisai DO

Dr. Tse received his DO from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He earned his MPH from Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health. Dr. Tse completed his rotating internship at Lutheran Medical Center, and his residency in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center.
