The Department of Pediatrics is proud to introduce Ms. Providencia Casado- Monchek RN, MSA, BSN, as our new Chief Pediatric Nursing Officer. Coming to us with 30 years of experience as a nursing leader, Ms. Monchek has received numerous awards for her dedication and service. She is responsible for developing and implementing overall nursing policies, protocols, strategic planning and operational standards as well as budgetary responsibility. Her philosophy of nursing practice is embodied by the concept that the patient and family always come first. Ms. Monchek believes in upholding excellence in nursing care supported by research, and in honoring the human spirit, dignity and value of every person, family and community. Her goal is to develop a center of excellence that reflects the identified healthcare concerns and functions collaboratively with all health care providers, addressing specific health care needs of our diverse patient population.
Prior to accepting these responsibilities, Ms. Monchek served as the Director of Nursing for Maternal-Child Health and Psychiatry at Lenox Hill Hospital part of the North Shore/ LIJ System. She also held a series of leadership positions at Beth Israel Medical Center and Montefiore. A member of several nursing organizations, Ms. Monchek was a key facet of the nursing advisory council for Peri-Gen. Peri-Gen is an innovative provider of fetal surveillance systems employing patented, pattern-recognition and obstetrics technologies that empower perinatal clinicians to make confident, real-time decisions about the mothers and babies in their care. She holds a BS in Nursing from CCNY, a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from Central Michigan University and a Post Graduate Certificate in Project Management from the Harvard School of Public Health.
