As the new academic year begins Maimonides Infants and Children’s Hospital is proud to announce the new additions to its full-time faculty. As old friends move on to new opportunities, our new physicians bring with them new talents and skills to allow us to further expand the services we can offer at Maimonides Infants and Children’s Hospital. The training, background and experience of these new physicians will raise our level of talent and service available to our patients and referring community physicians.
To highlight our new staff we would like to start with Dr. Joshua Needleman. Dr. Needleman comes to us from NYU-Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York. After spending 10 years at Montefiore in the Bronx, Dr. Needleman was invited as a visiting professor to UCLA. One year later he returned to New York spending two years at NY Hospital, before joining us at MICH. Dr. Needleman has exceptional experience in exercise physiology and we are using that experience to expand and update the services we offer in spirometry and exercise testing. We anticipate adding the technology which will allow us to test pulmonary function on children as young as one year old. In addition, Dr. Needleman is an expert in flexible bronchoscopy, allowing us to continue this critical service.
Dr. Keith Breglio has joined us in Pediatric Gastroenterology after spending 4 years as a Pediatric GI Attending at Mt Sinai in New York. Dr. Breglio has special expertise in inflammatory bowel disease and his addition will further our development in becoming the pen-ultimate clinical program for the diagnosis and treatment of these challenging patients. His extensive experience in GI endoscopy makes him an excellent addition to our already talented group of Pediatric Gastroenterologists under the continued leadership of Dr. Graciela Wetzler.
Dr. Christina Gagliardo joins us in Pediatric Infectious Disease after completing her training at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital in New York. During her training, Dr. Gagliardo earned highest honors from her nationally ranked ID mentors. She has excellent experience in all facets of Infectious Disease and she will be available for both inpatient and outpatient consults. She has structured her time to be maximally available to our patients and community physicians.
Finally, Dr. Michelle Katzow joins us as a full-time pediatric hospitalist after having completed her training at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Katzow rounds out our group of full-time pediatric hospitalists to allow us to provide the highest level of service to our hospitalized children. In addition, we have now started a Fellowship in Pediatric Hospital Medicine. This evolving “specialty” fellowship is in its infancy. Our program clearly puts us in the forefront of the care of hospitalized children.
