Message from the Chair
On On June 28, 2012 the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the ACA in an historic moment for the battle to move solidly towards universal health coverage for all Americans. Numerous provisions of ACA support children's access to care, primary prevention, comprehensive and continuous care as represented by the medical home and continuity of coverage for all children including those with special health care needs. On September 23, 2010 the following had come into effect, and upholding of ACA assures continuity of these benefits:
* A ban on pre-existing condition exclusions for children
* A ban on lifetime coverage limits
* Limit on annual coverage limits
* A ban on cost-sharing for preventive care (Bright Futures)
