The landmark publication “To Err is Human: Building a Safer Health System” from the Institute of Medicine (IOM) suggested back in 1999 that health care in this country is not as safe as it should be. Neonatal nurses at Maimonides Infants and Children’s Hospital are conducting a Nursing research study in preterm infants with Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC).  A serious gastrointestinal emergency common among premature infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), NEC is a devastating condition with high morbidity and mortality.  Read More >
