Maimonides offers a fully accredited, four-year residency program in urologic surgery. Two years of residency training in general surgery are required prior to acceptance into the Urologic Surgery Residency Program. The general surgery and urology programs have a close professional relationship wherein residents matched for urology can fulfill their two-year surgical training under the auspices of the Maimonides surgical training program. All surgical residents complete their surgical urologic educational requirements with a rotation on the urology service.
The Urology program offers state-of-the-art equipment training, including fiber optic endoscopy, lasers, microscopic surgery, laparoscopy, pulse dye laser and extra-corporeal shock wave lithotripsy. The teaching program offers a core of both full-time and voluntary faculty with expertise in all areas of clinical urology. The highest quality educational standards are maintained by frequent educational conferences and daily teaching sessions. All urology residents attend both regional and national urologic conferences.
