Research

The division engages in multiple clinical research projects and fellows are required to either participate in them or initiate a new project. There are also opportunities for basic science research. Our primary areas of research include management of mechanically ventilated patients, hemodynamics of septic shock, the use of blood and blood products in critically ill patients, the specialized needs of the geriatric critically ill, and ventilator-dependent patients.

Special Features

The fellows are given an opportunity to rotate through multiple chronic care ventilator facilities and become proficient in the management of mechanically ventilated patients. The fellows perform endoscopic and other procedures in the new state-of-the-art endoscopy/procedural suite. A multidisciplinary approach to patient care is emphasized.
