Curriculum & Research
The program emphasizes fundamentals of clinical diagnosis in the first year. The trainees are involved in both outpatient and inpatient experiences and learn about the proper use of laboratory techniques for measurement of hormones with recognition of the limitations and pitfalls involved in interpreting laboratory results.
A research project is performed in the second and third year based upon the choice of the individual fellow after discussion with and approval by the division director. Areas of investigation include physiology, pharmacology and molecular biology.
The division has an active clinical research program. Fellows can participate in ground breaking clinical research on obesity and insulin resistance. Fellows participate in projects of interest leading to abstracts and articles. Abstracts are regularly presented at the annual meeting of the Society for Pediatric Research.
