Welcome to Our Program

The Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) fellowship program at Maimonides Medical Center is the first accredited PEM fellowship in Brooklyn, NY. The fellowship is designed for emergency medicine or pediatric physicians who desire subspecialty training leading to certification in pediatric emergency medicine. The PEM fellowship is housed in the Department of Emergency Medicine with significant support from the Department of Pediatrics at the Maimonides Infants & Children’s Hospital.

The PEM fellowship program is intended to provide emergency medicine and pediatric physicians comprehensive clinical training in the care of acutely ill and injured infants and children. Fellows will be trained to conduct clinically relevant research in an urban community, academic hospital environment, and will become pediatric emergency medicine educators and superb pediatric emergency medicine clinicians. The goal of the program is to train pediatric emergency physicians to care for pediatric patients in both community and academic settings by emphasizing the fundamentals of assessment, diagnosis and management of children presenting to a urban community pediatric emergency department that is an approved 911-receiving facility.
