The graduating osteopathic physician is faced with serious choices in an ever-changing healthc are environment. At Maimonides Medical Center, we can help you make some of these choices. Our program offers a unique opportunity to meet your needs and prepare you for the road ahead.

Traditional Rotating Internship

The traditional rotating intern completes four weeks of family practice, four weeks of pediatrics, four weeks of anesthesia, four weeks of emergency medicine, four weeks of radiology, four weeks of ob/gyn, eight weeks of general surgery, eight weeks of internal medicine and eight weeks of electives in any of the following areas:

Medical Subspecialties

  • Cardiology
  • Gastroenterology
  • Infectious Diseases
  • Neurology
  • Pulmonary/Critical Care
  • Renal Disease

Other Disciplines

  • SICU
  • CTICU
  • MICU
  • Orthopedics
  • Pain Management

Should you choose to apply for a traditional rotating internship, elective time can be scheduled to meet your individual interests. Interns who have completed the traditional rotating internship for AOA credit have used this time to enhance their skills and discover their long-term career interests. Rotations are designed to provide the necessary foundation to pursue residency training at Maimonides or at other recognized programs across the nation.
