Dr. Joel Horovitz
To prepare the student to be a house officer (subintern); develop skills in surgical problem-solving; acquire knowledge and its application in evaluating patients with surgical disease which will ease the transition to being an intern; familiarize the student with procedures, operative technique and time management skills which will aid them during residency.
Focus of learning is evaluation and treatment of surgical inpatients in short time course over which most surgical problems develop and rapid feedback which operative intervention provides. Student will participate in both clinical and educational activities (work-ups, rounds, conferences, operations). Our goal is to increase responsibility of sub-intern with responsive supervision.
Daily interaction. Evaluation at the completion of the subinternship.
