Through a collaborative multidisciplinary team model, the service promotes safety, health and developmental well-being in the life of the vulnerable child. In addition to quality patient care, this fellowship model provides an organizational structure that fosters professional collaborations in patient care, education, research, prevention and advocacy between the two institutions.
The multidisciplinary team consists of physicians, social workers, nurses, psychologists and other allied health professionals who have long-standing interest and extensive experience in diagnosing and providing intervention for abused children. One of the unique features of this program is the incredible cultural and ethnic diversity of the patients served by each of these sites. This level of diversity will truly train the fellow on cross cultural aspects that may affect the prevention, intervention, treatment and support of abused children.
