The Medical Center is a pioneer among healthcare institutions when it comes to doing business together with our unionized workforce. We are engaged in a strategic alliance that promotes employee participation in problem solving and decision making activities. Departmental labor-management committees (or DLMC’s, as they are known), are involved in partnering work where staff jointly select projects that improve the efficiency of our operations, increase patient satisfaction and boost team work.
One example of our partnership work is the joint hiring process that is part of how we fill open positions. Whether it be the selection of our vice president of human resources, our director of engineering, our director of food and nutrition services, our worker participation management developer, to name afew, our employees have been actively involved in the process.
