Sports Medicine: Covering Gymnastic Champions
Maimonides Physicians Show Flexibility, Going from Basketball to Gymnastics
We show our versatility, as we move from team physicians of the Brooklyn Nets to covering the USA Gymnastics event at the Barclay Center. Our own Dr, Jack Choueka, Dr. John Munyak and Orry Erez were on hand to assist the athletes.
The 2012 Kellogg’s® Tour of Gymnastics Champions, a national tour featuring Team USA’s top performing gymnasts following the 2012 Olympic Games in London, performed at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on November 18, 2012. And our physicians were there to assist.
The 2008 Olympic all-around champion Nastia Liukin leads an impressive cast that included members of the men’s and women’s U.S. Team from the 2011 World Championships and 2012 Olympic Games teams, along with other Olympians and U.S. medalists in men’s, women’s, rhythmic, and acrobatic gymnastics, and trampoline and tumbling. The show’s format paired elite gymnastics skill with modern performance art that pushed the boundaries of athleticism.
Before the events, Liukin said “I can’t wait to come to Barclays Center in Brooklyn for the Kellogg’s Tour and perform in front of the largest Russian community in the US... It’s truly an honor and a pleasure, as I have great pride for the culture and people of my native country. I believe this is what makes the Olympic spirit so great; providing a platform for athletes and fans of all countries and ethnic backgrounds to cheer excellence. I’m looking forward to seeing all my fans in Brooklyn this fall.”
The Kellogg’s Tour of Champions marks the first gymnastics event at Barclays Center. Local area gymnasts will have the unique opportunity to participate in opening and closing ceremonies of the show, alongside the elite cast of gymnastics superstars. The Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions is produced by USA Gymnastics in partnership with AEG Facilities, and Kellogg Company is the title sponsor.
