Dr. Jay Cooper is the Director of the Maimonides Cancer Center, and Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology, at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.
He completed his residency at New York University Medical Center, where he remained on the attending staff for twenty seven years. Since becoming Board certified in 1977, Dr. Cooper has served more than a dozen times as an invited oral examiner for the ABR test to become Board Certified in Radiation Oncology.

Dr. Jay Cooper is a respected researcher with more than 150 peer-reviewed contributions to the medical literature; his work includes a landmark study of combined radiation and chemotherapy in head and neck cancers published in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Cooper has an international reputation for expertise in head and neck and skin cancers and is on the Editorial Boards of several medical journals. He has served several times as a Vice Chair of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG), is a past President of the American Radium Society, and was twice elected to serve on The American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC). Dr. Cooper has been the recipient of many honors throughout his medical career. He was awarded fellowships in the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and the American College of Radiology. He also received the American Board of Radiology Distinguished Service Award. |
