Dr. Ira E. Mayer is a physician in the Department of Medicine, Gastroenterology Division, at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Mayer joined the Maimonides team from the Brooklyn VA Hospital, where he was Staff Physician, and the Kings Highway Hospital, where he served as Assistant Attending Physician. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at New York Medical College, and his Gastroenterology Fellowship at Emory University of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Currently, Dr. Mayer is Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at SUNY Health Science Center in Brooklyn.

Dr. Mayer is a member of variety of professional societies, including the American College of Physicians, American College of Gastroenterology, Cor et Manus Society of New York Medical College, American Gastroenterological Association, the American Liver Foundation, Medical Society of the State of New York, the Brooklyn Gastroenterological Association and the Brooklyn Society of Internal Medicine.
