Maimonides is Proud to Welcome Interventional Radiologists
Sergei A. Sobolevsky, MD and Shaun M. Honig, MD.

Dr. Javier Beltran is proud to announce the appointment of two experienced interventional radiologists to the Department of Radiology. Dr. Sergei A. Sobolevsky is the new Director, Division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. He is joined by Dr. Shaun M. Honig. Both are accomplished interventional radiologists who bring a high degree of expertise to Maimonides Medical Center.

Sergei A. Sobolevsky, M.D. attended the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver, CO and received his medical degree in 1997. He completed two years of general surgery training at UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center, New Brunswick, NJ from 1997-1999, and did a one year fellowship at St. Luke's Roosevelt Medical Center, New York, NY in Nuclear Medicine from 2000-2001. Dr. Sobolevsky completed his residency training at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology from 2001-2004 followed by a Fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Harvard University Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA. He became Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology in 2005.

Dr. Sobolevsky has received numerous awards throughout his career for academic excellence and clinical research as well as published articles in peer-reviewed journals. He comes from Beth Israel Medical Center, New York with much experience in the field of Interventional Radiology. His clinical interests encompass interventional oncology including chemo/radio embolizations and thermoablations, uterine fibroid embolizations, treatment of arteriovenous malformations, spine interventions, as well as management of central and peripheral venous and arterial diseases.

Shaun M. Honig, MD attended the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, where he was a Howard Hughes Medical Institute fellow, and received his medical degree in 2004. He did a transitional year internship at New York Hospital Queens-Cornell Medical Center, NY followed by a residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center from 2005-2009 in Diagnostic Radiology and completed his Fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the same institution. Dr. Honig became Board Certified in 2009.

Dr. Honig has published numerous articles for peer-reviewed journals as well abstracts/presentations at the World conference of Interventional Oncology, Society of Interventional Radiology, RSNA, and American College of Surgeon. He has also been involved in multiple research projects with the Department of Gene Therapy and Molecular Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center. His clinical interests include interventional oncology, including chemoembolization / radioembolization and thermal ablations, as well as uterine fibroid embolization, dialysis access maintenance, and genitourinary and biliary interventions.
