Maimonides Medical Center is pleased to announce that the experts in our Heart & Vascular Center have once again distinguished themselves.
According to the latest published report from the New York State Department of Health, Maimonides ranks number one in providing the best patient outcomes for angioplasty and heart stents.
In fact, only one hospital in all of New York State exceeds the expected results by a statistically significant margin – and that hospital is Maimonides.
According to Dr. Jacob Shani, Chair of Cardiology at the Maimonides Heart & Vascular Center, “If your primary care doctor or cardiologist says you need to have an angioplasty and maybe a stent, you literally cannot find a safer place to have that done than Maimonides.”
“We’ve landed in first place many times over the last two decades and this time is no exception, which is a tribute to the expertise, experience and dedication of the cardiac team,” explained Dr. Robert Frankel, Director of Interventional Cardiology at Maimonides.
Specialists in Interventional Cardiology utilize new techniques to explore and treat a number of heart conditions and structural heart anomalies. This is accomplished by using alternative access sites such as the wrist for complex cardiac procedures.
The Heart & Vascular Center at Maimonides has a long and illustrious history in cardiac care. It was here that the first heart transplant in America took place, and here that Dr. Shani performed one of the nation’s first angioplasties during a heart attack
– a now-standard approach that helps conserve heart muscle.
Long known as a prominent Heart Hospital, Maimonides Medical Center is among the largest independent teaching hospitals in the nation. To learn more about the services provided at the Maimonides Heart & Vascular Center, call 718-283-8284, or log-on to www.maimonidesmed.org/heart
