Interpreter Services
Interpreter services are available free of charge to patients who do not speak English or who prefer to communicate with their health care providers in a language other than English.
If you would like to request a spoken language or sign language interpreter, please tell your nurse or ask to speak to your patient representative. The Patient Relations Department can be contacted at (718) 283-7212, and the Patient Relations Administrator on call is available around the clock at (718) 283-8838.
Please let us know if you or your loved ones require interpreter services or other communication assistance during your stay at Maimonides.
Additional Services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Patients
The Telecommunications Department and our TV/phone vendor provide assistive devices for the hard of hearing, as well as closed captioning TV and TTY equipment for our deaf patients. In addition, in-person sign language interpreters are available through the Patient Relations Department at all times.
Karen Cusimano, Assistant Vice President of Patient Relations and Volunteer Services, and Judie Arnold are the designated Language Assistance Coordinators for Maimonides Medical Center. They can be reached at (718) 283-7212.
