Our division of surgical critical care runs an 12-bed surgical intensive care unit, providing comprehensive critical care services for the entire department of surgery.
With a focus on patient care, the Medical Center has adopted a multi-disciplinary approach to critical care by utilizing physician intensivists to manage the care of our sickest patients. Our integrated approach has led to standardized ICU admissions and treatment protocols that have resulted in shorter lengths of stay and fewer complications for our patients.
Our model is an integrated one including the physician intensivists, nurse practitioners, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, social workers and surgical staff. Our physician intensivists provide around-the-clock care coverage on the surgical critical care unit, the post anesthesia care unit and the surgical step down unit.
All members of our division are board certified in surgical critical care medicine.
