The Medical Center offers orientation tours of the Stella and Joseph Payson Birthing Center on most Monday evenings. Lactation Services

The excitement and demands of parenthood can be challenging, especially immediately following the birth of a child. Parents of newborns can take advantage of our lactation services that are offered to all new mothers. Our two full-time lactation consultants, with credentials through the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants, are registered nurses who are also experienced in providing education, support and guidance to breastfeeding mothers. In addition to offering individual breastfeeding support on the post-partum floor, we conduct infant care and breastfeeding classes that are offered daily to ease the transition to home, especially for new mothers.
Ongoing breastfeeding support and counseling to mothers whose infants are in the neonatal intensive care unit is also provided.

Childbirth Education Classes

We offer classes to new and experienced parents regarding Lamaze techniques, physical exercises and relaxation techniques. Our two certified labor room instructors provide a holistic approach to the childbearing process. The classes also include helpful information regarding what to expect during labor, the type of anesthesia used, and post-partum issues. A tour of the Stella and Joseph Payson Birthing Center is also provided. Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:45pm, and again at 8:15pm
