Dr. Bilal Malik has been an attending in the Maimonides Department of Cardiology since July 2003. He is a board certified interventional cardiologist of international repute, who performs coronary and peripheral interventions, as well as mitral and aortic valvular plasties. Dr Malik played a pioneering role in converting Maimonides Med Ctr into a 100% primary PCI program.He has a keen interest in research and has been an investigator of multiple randomized trials, as well as an author of multiple journal articles and book chapters.
He has received numerous awards for his hard work and commitment to patient care, was named a "Top Cardiologist" by Consumers' Research Council of America.
Dr. Mailk is credited with performing the first angioplasty and coronary stent in Guyana in February 2007 at Georgetown Hospital, where he went with his team on a humanitarian mission.
