Patient Outcomes and Statistics
|
At Maimonides, we are dedicated to providing the highest level of patient care. We measure quality with respect to clinical outcomes, such as mortality, infection rates and safety, and the patient experience – staff interaction, communication and cleanliness. Nationwide core measures are used as indicators of how well a particular hospital is doing on treating their patients by the recommended guidelines.

The improvement areas we are focusing on are:
- To further reduce the time to percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). PCI is a procedure that is often the most effective method for opening blocked blood vessels that cause heart attacks.
- Enhance rapid intervention (within 90 minutes) from the time the patient arrives in the Emergency Room until treatment. Time is essential for patients who present with a heart attack.

The improvement areas we are focusing on are:
- Assure that CHF patients receive education and discharge instructions regarding diet, activity level, medications, follow up appointments, daily weight measurements, and signs and symptoms.
- Assure that drugs categorized as ACE-I (angiotensin converting enzyme) and ARBS (angiotensin receptor blockers) are prescribed. These drugs reduce the action of a hormone that can narrow blood vessels. This helps reduce the pressure in the heart and lower blood pressure.
