Specialists in the Treatment of Carotid Artery Disease

The carotid arteries are very important blood vessels that carry blood to the brain. Blockages in these arteries can result in strokes or mini-strokes. The vascular surgery team at the Maimonides Heart & Vascular Center specializes in non-invasive methods of diagnosing significant blockages in these arteries using ultrasound.

	Once a blockage is identified, our surgeons can perform an advanced surgical procedure called endarterectomy to scrape out the hardened plaque blocking the inside of the blood vessel.
	In addition, our surgeons offer minimally invasive carotid artery ballooning and stenting performed through small “poke holes” in the groin.
