Our Team and Approach

When treating thoracic cancers, a multidisciplinary team approach is essential in order to achieve the most successful results. At Maimonides Cancer Center, our team of experts includes board certified thoracic surgeons, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, specially trained nurse practitioners, a social worker, a nutritionist, a psychologist, and other clinical personnel—all dedicated to providing our patients with the very best in patient-centered care.

All of these thoracic oncology experts come together at a weekly conference to discuss and review each patient’s case, and develop an individualized treatment plan. With this multidisciplinary approach, patients receive the collective opinion of some of the top specialists in thoracic oncology, without having to navigate multiple doctors’ offices and treatment recommendations.

Maimonides Cancer Center also has extensive experience in caring for the elderly, who make up the majority of lung cancer patients. In addition to treating their cancer, we provide expert multidisciplinary care for any concurrent illnesses or conditions, which can help minimize hospital stays and speed recovery.
