Samuel Kopel, MD

Dr. Kopel became medical director of Maimonides in 1995. Dr. Kopel’s academic activities have primarily focused on research in the treatment of hematologic cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma as well as cancers affecting the head and neck, lung, and breast. Dr. Kopel has served as a principal investigator of research on acute leukemia at Maimonides and the State University of New York.

Dr. Kopel has written numerous articles and abstracts evaluating different approaches to the management of leukemia and other cancers. He has been an active participant in all of the major oncologic and hematologic academic societies, including the World Federation of Hemophilia, the American Society of Hematology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
