Maimonides Medical Center recently added to their ambulance fleet a brand new 4-wheel-drive vehicle, the first 4x4 ambulance in the entire NYC 911 Response System.
The vehicle is a 2011 Ford F350 4x4 Super Low Emission ambulance, built by Demers Ambulances of Canada. The vehicle itself won the Journal of EMS 2011 “Product of the Year” award for its design and features.
"Our new ambulance will give first responders greater ability to swiftly and safely handle 911 assignments during inclement weather," said William Howe, NREMT-P, CIC, Director of Emergency Medical Services. "Maimonides has decided to gradually switch over to all 4x4s as new vehicles are ordered in the future."
