Great medical centers are by definition progressive medical centers. The Maimonides Cancer Center continues its expansion to meet the health needs of Brooklyn residents.
In 2006, in keeping with the Maimonides Cancer Center's mission, Pamela S. Brier, President & CEO of Maimonides Medical Center, appointed Dr. Jay S. Cooper as Director of the Cancer Center and Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology. Through Dr. Cooper's leadership, the Maimonides Cancer Center offers patients a coordinated cancer care program that is first class in all ways -- nationally recognized doctors, who use cutting-edge technology and know how to treat patients as human beings, not simply people with cancer.
To illustrate this, Dr. Cooper likes to quote Maimonides, “The physician should not treat the disease, but the patient who is suffering from it.”
