Maimonides Breast Cancer Center

Brooklyn's first, fully dedicated breast cancer center offers advanced treatment that saves lives in a new healing environment that affirms life. It is a place where every woman has her own team of highly skilled breast cancer specialists.

At the Maimonides Breast Cancer Center, we understand that breast cancer is a complex family of diseases best treated by a multidisciplinary team of specialists. Our team includes breast surgeons, reconstructive surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, specially trained nurses and physician assistants, social workers, a nutritionist, a genetic counselor and others. Many are nationally recognized leaders in their fields and were recruited from prestigious hospitals in New York City and throughout the country. Working collaboratively, they meet weekly to discuss each patient's treatment and progress.

The Latest Diagnostic and Treatment Technologies. But don’t just take our word for it. Maimonides was awarded Full Accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), administered by the American College of Surgeons, placing it among an elite 5% of programs in the nation. In addition, our program is the first and only Brooklyn-based program of its kind to be designated an American College of Radiology Center of Excellence in three areas: mammography, ultrasound and stereotactic biopsy.

The Maimonides Breast Cancer Program offers comprehensive screening, diagnostic, medical and surgical breast services, as well as nutrition and genetics counseling, and a full array of psycho-social support for patients and families. We are deeply committed to offering our patients every significant advantage in their battle against breast disease by providing them with the highest level of quality breast care.

We are proud to have earned the dedication and acclaim of our patients. Unlike many subspecialties where physicians refer patients, breast cancer patients often seek out a referral from a friend or family member who had breast cancer. In 2006, just after the Maimonides Breast Cancer Program began, we treated 40 women with breast cancer. Today, we treat close to 500 women a year—many of them referred to us from grateful former patients.
